A good accuracy and repetability of your analysis depends on a clean sample preparation.
When using sample cups, preventing contamination of the XRF thin film is mandatory. Contamination often occurs when assembled sample cups are placed on dirty surfaces or when the thin film is touched during preparation. All contaminations present on the XRF thin film will be part of your analysis result. To help avoid this, we’ve developed tools that keep the XRF thin film of prepared cups clean and protected.

Sample Cup Assembly Aid
Proper sample preparation is essential for accurate XRF analysis—especially when working with trace elements, where even the slightest contamination can influence results. That’s why we’ve developed practical tools like the Sample Cup Assembly Aid to support a clean and reliable workflow and avoid contamination.
The XRS-24-32 sample cups are designed with a small notch that allows air to escape while pressing down the film, ensuring a smooth, wrinkle-free surface. Larger cups as the XRS-30-35, XRS-35-40 and XRS-40-45 cups do not have this notch, so it’s recommanded to place them above the hole in the Assembly Aid during preparation. This central hole lets air escape during assembly, preventing trapped air bubbles and ensuring the film is evenly stretched, resulting in a wrinkle-free surface.
Sample Cup Racks
To avoid contamination of the foil by placing the assembled sample cup on a contaminated surface, a sample rack can be used. The rack allows you to transport multiple assembles cups at once and stack the filled racks on top of eachother to safe workspace. The top cover protects the top row from dust contamination.

Weight Aids
To avoid contamination of the film by placing the sample cup on a contaminated balance, a weight aid can be used. A small pocket scale balance positioned near the instrument facilitates the filling of the cup with a dedicated amount of sample.
